At Regional Hospital, our ultimate goal is to help our patients improve the quality of their lives. When patients arrive here, they often have complex medical challenges to overcome. However, through our program of state-of-the-art, specialized and compassionate care, we work closely with our patients to help them reach the full potential of their health.

A Healing Environment

Regional Hospital team knows that a patient’s emotional needs are an important part of the complex care process. To ease the transition between home and hospital, we provide a warm, comfortable setting where families are welcome anytime and patients are encouraged to bring items from home to personalize their rooms. In addition, massage, music and pet therapy are frequently used to facilitate an uplifting and healing environment.

Patient Safety

Regional Hospital is committed to the safety and well-being or our patients, our staff and visitors. To turn commitment into action, Regional enlists the help of our staff, our patients and their families. Staff participate in patient and employee safety teams and must regularly renew safety competency training on topics such as the National Patient Safety Goals set forth by the Joint Commission. Patients and visitors are also encouraged to be active safety advocates. This includes simple but important safety practices; such as, speaking up with questions or concerns, knowing the patient’s fall risk and how to help prevent falls, and washing hands frequently and reminding staff to do the same.

A “Zero Lift” Facility

Manual lifting and transferring patients can result in falls and injuries to both patients and staff members. Career-ending injuries due to patient handling are not uncommon among healthcare workers. Regional Hospital for Respiratory and Complex Care leads the way in safe patient handling. Every patient room is equipped with an overhead patient-lifting device. Highly trained caregivers use this advanced patient handling technology to ensure safe and secure patient lifting, transferring and repositioning.

Facility Tours

Families are an important part of the recovery process, and are welcome to tour Regional Hospital so they can familiarize themselves with our facility and understand our unique services and philosophy. While making an appointment is not required, a pre-scheduled tour ensures a staff member is available to explain our approach to patient care and to answer any questions. Healthcare professionals from referring facilities and insurance companies are always welcome to tour Regional Hospital.

Social Services and Case Management

It’s important for families to meet with one of our Social Workers as soon as possible after a patient’s arrival. This helps us understand the unique needs of every complex care patient admitted to Regional Hospital. Our Social Workers facilitate communication with the rest of the healthcare team, provide patient and family support, offer financial counseling and help families access appropriate resources throughout the patient’s stay.
