At the heart of The Regional Hospital, is the interdisciplinary team. This team allows our care to be patient-focused. We depend upon interaction and communication between the team members, patients and family members to make our program work to its fullest.

Led by a pulmonologist/intensivist, the interdisciplinary team is comprised of highly skilled professionals: critical care nurses, respiratory care practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, medical social workers, dieticians, clinical pharmacists, chaplain and others. The medical staff includes a full range of medical and surgical specialists.

Each week, the interdisciplinary team meets to plan care, monitor progress, and establish and modify short and long-term goals for the patient. It is in this open forum that we focus the extensive experience and expertise of our clinical staff on each patient. This interaction enables each expert to maximize his or her effectiveness with individual patients based upon information received from other team members.

Daily rounds with the physician and key clinical team members serve to address changing medical needs and modification of the plan of care.

Open Staffing

To provide the best continuity of care, we offer referring and consulting physicians temporary privileges at The Regional Hospital, subject to executive medical staff committee approval. This allows physicians to maintain a level of involvement appropriate to their own practice patterns and geographic distance from The Regional Hospital.
