As an acute care hospital, we are part of the continuum of care for patients with complex, catastrophic or chronic illnesses, whose medical conditions remain more intense than can be safely managed in a lower level of care such as subacute, skilled nursing or rehabilitation settings. As an extended critical care hospital, we provide critical care services in all of our beds. This allows the patient to continue to receive a high level of care in a more relaxed setting than is possible in a typical IC.
Criteria:
If the answer to the following questions is "yes," then it is likely that The Regional Hospital will be of assistance to your patient.
- Does the patient meet acute care screening criteria?
- Can the patient potentially benefit from services?
- Does the patient require more intense services than can be safely managed in a subacute or skilled nursing facility, or has the patient had a recent history of multiple acute care admissions?
- Is the patient too acutely ill for active rehabilitation?
Typical Diagnoses and Clinical Conditions of Patients:
